On Sunday, May 4, we are joining hundreds of artists, activists, neighbors, ecologists, dancers, healers, and dreamers for LIVING SOILS RISING—a series of creative acts offered to seed a future rooted in climate justice, land healing, and community courage. The gathering will take place at Under the K Bridge Park, a site where Indigenous land was taken and where the fossil fuel industry has shaped the landscape from 1867 to today.
We come together to witness, remember, and honor this harmed land—and to envision, through ritual and imagination, a livable energy future. This event is organized by the No North Brooklyn Pipe Alliance, with support from Marina Tsaplina/Soils and Spirit, Sane Energy, Urban Soils Institute, North Brooklyn Parks Alliance, No One’s Ark, Green Feather Foundation, and Under the K Bridge Park.
I am grateful that Voz has been invited to participate, in collaboration with Marina Tsaplina, as part of the ceremonial offerings of Living Soils Rising. Through vibration, breath, and grounded presence, we will join the collective effort to awaken the soil, honor the territory, and strengthen our relationship with the land beneath our feet.
Participants are invited to arrive in costume as a local fungi, plant, or animal native to Northern Brooklyn—an embodied gesture of kinship with the living systems we seek to protect.
