Disability Reflections

Disability Reflections is a creative, community-centered project that empowers disabled individuals to explore identity, agency, and imagination through embodied storytelling and filmmaking. Rooted in disability justice and the belief that disability is a natural part of human potential, the project unfolds in two parts: a filmmaking workshop where participants craft their own short films, and a dissemination campaign that elevates these works through screenings, behind-the-scenes pieces, and interviews with creators, advocates, and disability scholars. Together, these elements challenge stereotypes, expand public understanding, and bring forward new images and stories shaped directly by disabled voices. Enter to explore the workshop, the films, and the collective vision behind this growing movement.

Echoing Our Reflections is a 30-minute documentary in development that serves as a proof of concept for Disability Reflections—a two-part project combining a filmmaking educational program and a documentary multiplatform campaign.

This 3-minute trailer introduces the online workshop, featuring excerpts from participant films created over five weeks, moments from the final screening and Q&A, and an intimate glimpse into the filmmaker’s life with her autistic son. The film invites deeper conversations on disability, representation, and justice.
